(CD2 06:01-12:00) In as much as something comes together out of circumstance, it ends in just the same way. This is recounted by reference to the beginning and end of the universe; the first verse is about Big Bang and human belief systems; the second verse is about references to human intelligence and progress but that it will all shred in “universal fission” (one theory is that there will be a “Big Rip” as the eventual counter to the Big Bang and that the universe as we know it will disappear into micro-nothingness in the same time frame (effectively instantaneous extinction)) – the underlying clock in Shred is the SOS signal (o o o / - - - / o o o), which is what the tune started with...
